Marking industrial products
using a laser station
Order a free sample

Technical data:

  • What was needed: a laser station for marking industrial products
  • Requirements: 100% lubrication and maintenance-free, compact, lightweight, quiet and vibration-free, cost-effective
  • Products used: drylin® telescopic guide, drylin® W guide, drylin® SLW with lead screw linear unit and integrated dryspin® lead screw made of stainless steel
  • Success for the customer: a laser station for marking industrial products is being developed by Östling Marking Systems from Austria. To load the products into the machine, the operator must raise a sliding door. For this movement, the engineers use two drylin® W telescopic guides. In addition, a counterweight is placed inside - also mounted on a drylin® guide. Height adjustment of the work surface is also provided by drylin® SLW linear lead screw units, driven by a hand wheel. The components operate without lubrication and are also compact, lightweight, quiet and cost-effective.

Problem

Marking industrial products requires some skill. Östling Marking Systems GmbH developed an application that is an all-in-one laser station for marking products from different industrial sectors. The laser station's sliding door can be operated by hand allows people to insert and remove workpieces quickly. It has a compact design and must be waterproof and easy to move. Hence, the bearings must fit into a small installation space and should be telescopic. The customer also wanted light, quiet and cost-effective components for the application. To test the installed parts, they asked for prototypes.

Solution

Various igus® components have proven to meet the corresponding requirements. No alternatives were considered, the decision for igus® was obvious. Two drylin® W telescopic guides were installed to move the sliding door up and down. A counterweight is inserted on the inside via a deflection roller, which is mounted in a drylin® W guide. The dryspin® lead screws in the SLW lead screw linear units ensure an easy adjustment of the work surface. The collaboration with a sales representative worked flawlessly: they discussed the situation, identified suitable options and developed the appropriate solutions. Samples were provided for the prototypes.
