Most cables are rarely seen. They are protected against unfavourable surroundings. The application areas are primarily restricted to seabeds, masts where they function as so-called overhead cables, or underground applications. In contrast to electrical engineering, the term is becoming more and more popular in communication and information technology.
In contrast to concealed cables, we encounter exposed cables much more frequently in everyday life. Similar to concealed cables, these (usually multi-core) cables are also used for energy or data transfer.
